Perforated Cradle Makes Unloading Heavy Rolls Safe and Easy, Without Use of Cranes or Slings

APPLETON, Wis., July 12, 2011 — Rollguard®, part of Great Northern Corporation's Specialty Group, will be showcasing its new perforated fiber roll cradle, as well as its complete line of recycled fiber, foam and plastic cradles, in booth #6748 at Pack Expo Las Vegas, Sept. 26 – 28, 2011, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The new perforated cradles allow end customers without overhead cranes or slings to safely unload heavy rolls from cradles manually, without the risk of back strain or other injuries.

"We designed this customized feature specifically for those end customers without overhead cranes or slings who need a safe way to manually unload large, heavy rolls with outer diameters of 40 and 50 inches," said Rob Swannell, Rollguard General Manager. "Perforations on the edges of the cradle’s saddle allow the customer to kick down one or both sides of the cradle. The roll can then be pushed manually onto an adjacent pallet or directly onto a forklift for further movement."

Rollguard will also be displaying its full line of roll cradles, including a long-life reusable foam cradle that offers several distinct advantages over plastic cradle/pallet combination products, Swannell said. Those features include customization capabilities, cost-efficiencies, and cushioning characteristics that compare favorably to the heavy, expensive and limited size choices offered by competitors.

"Our long-life foam cradles are highly customizable to meet specific customer needs, allowing us to provide more tailored solutions than alternative options, such as combined cradle/pallet products," said Swannell.
